Feel It: Public Speaking

We all have fears in life or at least one thing that makes us feel uncomfortable. Fear is one of the strongest emotions for every human being like love or hate, it can distract our mind, causing us not to think or act logically in different circumstances. Fear, like the fear of speaking in public, can affect each individual differently. Some of us are able to control this fear and speak confidently and clearly in front of a large group of people. Others of us freeze, shake, have sweaty palms, feel how the heart begins to beat faster and faster, and you can barely open your mouth to say your words. Are those feelings familiar to you? Fear confuses your mind to make the situation more difficult than it really is.

I was invited to read in front of a large group of people. My piece was published in the book called Language Made of the Tree. At that exciting event, I found out that my brain doesn't allow me to control myself in front of thousands of eyes. My fear made me feel cramped.

Fear was my enemy against my wishes. My wishes are: to stay open and to not be afraid. I surpassed my enemy, and I’ve got what I wanted. I challenged my fear and this is what I’m proud of. At the stage, I felt as I was fish out of the water, but from now and so on I will feel myself more confidently in front of people. It was first fearful experience of mine. I enjoyed that battle, and in the end, I felt as a winner.
